Blackbird plc, the technology licensor, developer and seller of the cloud native video editing platform, Blackbird, today appointed Mo Volans SVP of product marketing. He joins the company from VEGAS Creative Software where he was SVP marketing.
Volans has worked with leading brands in pro audio, video and tech for over 20 years. Starting his journey as a music producer and content creator he found his calling in product marketing and growth strategy. He went on to lead global marketing teams, run a successful agency and create award-winning products and growth for innovative names in the media industry.
An entrepreneurial approach ultimately led to the creation and exit of his own hardware startup. This experience gave Volans an understanding of consumer psychology and the skills needed to produce optimal user experience. He has held senior positions with Brainworx / Plugin Alliance and been a strategy adviser at Abbey Road Studios. Most recently, as SVP marketing at MAGIX / Vegas Creative Software, he shaped strategy for its pro audio and video portfolio.
After overseeing the launch of many products, Volans will use his experience to create and amplify a new engaging range of Blackbird products.
Volans said: “As content creators continue to turn to the cloud for both production and collaboration, the timing is perfect for Blackbird to expand its already impressive offering. I’m really excited to be joining the Blackbird team at this crucial point in their journey.”
Blackbird CEO Ian McDonough added: “I’m incredibly happy to bring Mo on board at such a pivotal time in Blackbird’s evolution. Mo brings an extraordinary breadth of experience in developing and launching highly successful video products in the media creation space. Together with the recent hires we’ve made across product and through expanding our software engineering team, Blackbird is building strength in depth to roll out our next generation of products to new markets.”
